SD HC cards are a vital part of your DSLR filming kit, having a wide range of cards can help speed up the filming process.

However knowing which SDHC card to buy is a lot more difficult than you might expect.

SD HC cards are arranged by classes 2,4,6 and 10 i dont know what happened to 8 but who cares…

Class 2 and 4 cards are only able to capture photos and Standard definition video.

Class 6 and 10 are able to take RAW photo images and HD video. Class 6 and Class 10 cards are designed to be able to process the large files that HD video creates.

If you have been experiencing the problem where your video records for 3 seconds then stops the problem lies with your card. Pop it out and you will probably now notice a small number 2 or 4 on the front of the card. Although class 6 cards are know for being able to work with HD video you are safer investing your money in a high speed class 10 card. Talking about money lets talk prices.

Sandisk Extreme 16GB class 10 card 30mbps – £28

for £8 extra you can get double the size and speed!!! and you will notice the difference believe me!

Amazon have some great deals at the minute on Transcend Cards – although i havnt used them myself i have heard good things about them plus they are really cost effective. Play.co.uk also have some great deals on the sandisk cards i was talking about SanDisk Extreme HD Video 8GB SDHC SD Memory Card
